چکیده

The reactivity of Mn2O3 and late rare-earth sesquioxides in alkaline aqueous solution affords a highyield formation of rare-earth manganites, LnMnO3 (Ln 1⁄4 Ho–Lu and Y). The yield of the products depends significantly on the pH, which determines the solubility of the manganese cation, and reaction temperature, which regulates the decomposition of the insoluble rare-earth trihydroxide, Ln(OH)3, to the more reactive oxide hydroxide, LnO(OH). Plateand needle-like LnMnO3 crystallites of a few micrometers in size have been prepared at reaction temperatures where the rare-earth oxide hydroxide is thermodynamically stable, whereas at lower temperatures the insoluble rare-earth trihydroxide persists and no reaction is observed.

Rare-earth metal methylidene complexes with Ln3(μ3-CH2)(μ3-Me)(μ2-Me)3 core structure.

Trinuclear rare-earth metal methylidene complexes with a Ln3(μ3-CH2)(μ3-Me)(μ2-Me)3 structural motif were synthesized by applying three protocols. Polymeric [LuMe3]n (1-Lu) reacts with the sterically demanding amine H[NSiMe3(Ar)] (Ar = C6H3iPr2-2,6) in tetrahydrofuran via methane elimination to afford isolable monomeric [NSiMe3(Ar)]LuMe2(thf)2 (4-Lu). The formation of trinuclear rare-earth meta...

Structure, oxygen stoichiometry and electrical conductivity of LnPrO3+y (Ln=Y and Lanthanide) oxides

The crystal structure and d.c. electrical conductivity of a series of homogeneous mixed rare-earth oxides in LnPrO3+y (Ln=Y and lanthanide ion) system are reported. It is found that the ionic size of Ln determines the crystal structure of the oxides in this series. LaPrO3+y and CePrO3+y crystallise in the fluorite structure(fcc), whereas the remaining oxides adopt the C-type rare-earth oxide st...

Hydrothermal synthesis and photoluminescence properties of rare-earth niobate and tantalate nanophosphors.

Rare-earth niobate and tantalate materials are of considerable interest for use as phosphors, photocatalysts and ionic conductors. We successfully synthesized Ln3MO7 (Ln = Y, Ce, Er, Ho, Tm, Yb and Lu, M = Ta, Nb) nanophosphors by a hydrothermal method using the water-soluble Lindqvist ion polyoxometalates [HNb6O19](7-) and [Ta6O19](8-) as Nb and Ta sources. The Pawley refinements of these nano...

Synthesis, structure and hydrosilylation activity of neutral and cationic rare-earth metal silanolate complexes.

Rare-earth metal alkyl tri(tert-butoxy)silanolate complexes [Ln{mu,eta2-OSi(O(t)Bu)3}(CH2SiMe3)2]2 (Ln = Y (1), Tb (2), Lu (3)) were prepared via protonolysis of the appropriate tris(alkyl) complex [Ln(CH2SiMe3)3(thf)2] with tri(tert-butoxy)silanol in pentane. Crystal structure analysis revealed a dinuclear structure for with square pyramidal geometry at the yttrium centre. The silanolate ligan...
